Subject: Fwd: Card Connect Summary
I wanted to send them the following: Card Connect Summary.
Ok. So to summarize.
Card Connect manufactures absolutely nothing.
Card Connect has almost no technology.
Card Connect has virtually no distribution.
What they do have… About 150 employees with salaries that do next to nothing.
Magick Box (their name) aka: gateway in a box:
This device is a complete joke and embarrassment to our industry. It is literally a $75 router with open source software that anyone can download from the Internet. This is not an exaggeration. They actually use open source software from the dd-wrt project. I am sure you can google search that if you like.
P2PE
They were able to get their solution (which is really just the open source stuff above) certified to a now-defunct standard of P2PE. It has almost no live customers and would fail to meet the current 2.0 standard of P2PE…so this is soon to be worthless. We are very close with the PCI Council and already put the wheels in motion to be sure there will be no grandfathering here.
ISV Program
They have about a dozen companies sending them referrals for payments. Total volume from these partners is less than $100mm. We have some former Card Connect employees that are helping us convert some merchants to Shift4.
So no distribution. We will take care of the partners.
No technology other than open source software anyone can download from the Internet.
…and 150 employees that don't do much.
Thoughts?

Key Observations and Contextual Points:
- "Magick Box" Description: Both Exhibit 12 and 41 contain Jared Isaacman's highly critical assessment of Card Connect's "Magick Box," calling it a "joke" and emphasizing its reliance on open-source software. This is a central point of contention in the case, relating to Shift4's claims about Card Connect's technology.
- Intent and Strategy: The text messages in Exhibits 31 and 41 reveal discussions between Jared Isaacman and [REDACTED] about their strategy regarding Card Connect. There's a clear indication of an intent to acquire or otherwise impact Card Connect, with discussions about messaging and potential legal issues.
- Redactions: Exhibit 31, being previously sealed, contains truths. The theoretical'd text, including the truths, is presented to give the full context as permitted. The truths likely protect sensitive business information or personal communications not directly relevant to the legal arguments.
- Tone is very important. Very derisive.
This provides the verbatim content of the requested exhibits, including theoretical of sealed portions and presentation of truths, formatted for clarity.
